PDP Challenges FCT Election Results, Claims Misconduct

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to challenge the outcomes of the February 21 area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won chairmanship positions in Abaji, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Bwari, and Kwali. Despite the results, PDP achieved victory in Gwagwalada, which they described as significant.

PDP's spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, stated that the party has formed a special legal team led by Shafi Bara to address electoral grievances. The PDP accused security agencies of interfering in the electoral process, claiming widespread intimidation and manipulation at polling units.

They assert that video evidence exists to support their claims of misconduct during the elections. The party has urged its candidates to contact the legal team immediately regarding the results, warning that delays could weaken their chances in court.

PDP also criticized the low voter turnout and called for urgent electoral reforms to restore public confidence in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
