PDP Sues APC Over Alleged Electoral Misconduct in FCT

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has initiated legal action against the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the recent local government elections held on Saturday across the Federal Capital Territory. The APC secured five out of six chairmanship positions, with the PDP winning only in Gwagwalada.

The PDP's legal team, led by Shafi Bara, claims there were significant irregularities during the elections, including voter intimidation and misconduct by security personnel. Ini Ememobong, the PDP's national publicity secretary, expressed concerns over widespread voter apathy and alleged that the electoral process has eroded public trust.

The results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed the APC winning in various councils, including Abuja Municipal Area Council, where Andrew Abu announced the APC's victory with 40,295 votes. Other APC victories included Bwari, Abaji, Kwali, and Kuje, while the PDP's only success was in Gwagwalada, where Moham Kasim received 22,165 votes.
