FCT Security Forces Enforce Movement Restrictions Ahead of Elections

Ahead of the area council elections scheduled for Saturday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), security operatives implemented strict movement restrictions. Major highways, including the Kubwa Expressway near the Army Resource Center in Asokoro, were barricaded to prevent commuters from moving.

Soldiers were deployed to enforce these restrictions, leading to significant delays for stubborn commuters who attempted to ignore the orders. Reports indicated that some commuters were made to sit for hours beside their parked vehicles as soldiers verified their identification cards.

Notably, the soldiers turned back those trying to flout the restrictions, while a vigilant group at the Tipper Garage in Bwari also barricaded roads with wooden objects. The enforcement of these measures was aimed at maintaining order during the elections, with soldiers remaining vigilant at key locations such as the Ushafa Bwari Roundabout.
