SD Stable Dominates 2026 International Horse Racing Derby

At the 2026 International Horse Racing Derby held at the Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar III International Racecourse in Bida, Niger State, SD Stable dominated the event by winning six cups out of eight competitive races. The results were officially announced on Wednesday, marking the first day of the derby themed "Renew Hope Bida 2026." Notable victories for SD Stable included the Hajiya Aishatu Makama Sagi Raba Nupe's Cup in Division II and the Aliyu Makama Memorial Cup.

The event also featured a record-setting performance by jockey Mutari, who completed a 1000m race in 1 minute and 28 seconds. The derby, which saw participation from dignitaries including Nigeria's First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, aimed to curb drug use among Nigerian youth, with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducting tests to ensure fair play.

The event was attended by Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, among other dignitaries.
