2026 National Learning Assessment to Transform Education

The 2026 National Learning Assessment (NLA) is set to shape Nigeria's educational policy, as stated by Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education. The assessment will provide credible data on student academic performance and is designed to improve learning outcomes nationwide.

It will cover primary schools, junior secondary schools (JS2), and senior secondary schools (SS2), including both public and private institutions. Professor Ahmad inspected three schools in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State as part of the assessment's preparation.

She expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of the exercise, which aims to produce credible results to guide government decisions on educational quality. The assessment will help identify learning gaps and target interventions to ensure students acquire necessary competencies.

Additionally, a new intervention program will be launched in Jigawa State to reintegrate 5,000 school children into formal education. Professor Ahmad emphasized the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments to expand access to quality education.
