Top Seeds Shine at 2026 National Table Tennis Tournament

The 2026 National Table Tennis Tournament is taking place in Otan Ayegbaju, Osun State, with over 200 players from across Nigeria competing for a ₦5 million prize pool. The tournament, which honors the memory of Michael Felicia Alabi, has become a significant event on the country's sports calendar.

Osun State's Deputy Governor, Princ Kola Adewusi, emphasized the importance of discipline and talent in sports, urging participants to serve as good ambassadors for the state and to avoid doping. Defending champion and top seed Abdulbasit Abdulfatai from Kwara has successfully reached the last 16 in the men's singles, while top seed Hope Udoaka continues to impress in the women's singles.

The tournament features 14 events across various categories, including singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and veterans, with an increased prize money of ₦5 million reflecting its growing stature. Tournament referee John Peter praised the sponsors for creating a welcoming atmosphere for players and officials.
