2026 NWFL Championship Draw Sparks Promotion Battle

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has unveiled the draw for the 2026 NWFL Championship, which will feature 16 clubs competing for two coveted promotion tickets to the elite NWFL Premiership. The championship is scheduled to run from July 9 to 16 in Calabar, Cross River State.

The participating clubs have been divided into four groups, with notable teams including Delta Babe, Dreamstar Ladies FC, Pelican Stars, and Rangers Women FC. The competition aims to produce highly competitive matches as clubs strive to secure promotion to the NWFL Premiership.

The two best-performing clubs at the end of the championship will earn promotion, while the three lowest-ranked clubs will face relegation to the NWFL Nationwide League. The NWFL expresses confidence in Calabar's facilities to provide a conducive environment for high-quality football, promoting women's football at the grassroots level.

The tournament is expected to attract football enthusiasts from the South-South region and will include pre-match activities and strict adherence to tournament regulations.
