2026 NWFL Championship Set for Calabar, July 9-16

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) announced that the 2026 NWFL Championship will take place in Calabar, Cross River State, from July 9 to July 16. Sixteen clubs will compete for two promotion slots to the NWFL Premiership, Nigeria's top women's football league.

This marks Calabar's return as a host city after successfully hosting the tournament two years prior. NWFL spokesperson Samuel Ahmadu confirmed that the championship will provide a platform for emerging women's football clubs in Nigeria.

The tournament is expected to attract teams nationwide and enhance Calabar's reputation as a key location for women's football development. The competition will feature a total of eight fixtures across two match venues, with the tournament's kick-off scheduled for July 11.

Clubs are urged to comply with all regulations and guidelines to ensure a smooth tournament. The championship aims to discover and nurture female football talent while promoting the growth of women's football across the country.
