INEC Enhances Preparations for 2026 Osun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has intensified preparations for the 2026 Osun governorship election by commissioning vital electoral infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art Osun Decides Media Studio and a newly constructed Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) storage facility at its Osogbo headquarters. INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan, during his working visit to Osun state, emphasized the importance of delivering a peaceful, transparent, and credible election.

He acknowledged the high expectations from the public and urged staff to rise to the occasion. Amupitan introduced a staff incentive package that includes cash rewards and foreign travel incentives for officials who excel during the election, aiming to motivate personnel and enhance productivity.

He reaffirmed INEC's commitment to conducting a free and fair election, building on the successful execution of previous elections since he took office nine months ago. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing collaboration with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) and the National Peace Committee to ensure the safety of electoral personnel and materials.
