INEC Deploys 4,427 BVAS for Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the deployment of 4,427 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices for the upcoming governorship election in Osun State scheduled for August 15, 2026. INEC Chairman, Prof.

Joash Amupitan, revealed this information during a stakeholders forum in Osogbo. The deployment includes 664 backup units, constituting a 15% operational reserve, stationed at Registration Area Centres (RAC) with specialized RACTECH officers for immediate hardware support.

Amupitan confirmed that the commission is prepared logistically, technologically, and operationally to conduct an election that meets the standards of the Electoral Act 2026. There are 2,339,233 registered voters across 30 Local Government Areas, with 322,822 PVCs collected as of July 25, 2026.

To promote inclusivity, PVC collection has been extended to July 31, 2026. A Mock Accreditation will take place on August 1, 2026, across 12 selected Local Government Areas.

Amupitan assured that stolen PVCs can be blacklisted and reprinted for affected voters.
