INEC to Enhance Osun Election with More BVAS Devices

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the deployment of an additional 664 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices to be used in 3,763 polling units for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, stated that the BVAS will facilitate the direct upload of polling unit results to INEC's Result Viewing Portal (IREV), thereby enhancing transparency and public access to results.

Babalola assured that the BVAS devices are already charged and will be configured close to the election date. INEC is also focusing on inclusivity by providing support materials for women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWD), and other groups.

Security arrangements have been confirmed by Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, to ensure a peaceful environment during the election. Currently, there are 1,954,800 registered voters in Osun State, and INEC has promised to inform voters when to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
