INEC Schedules Mock Accreditation for Osun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled a mock accreditation exercise for Saturday, August 1, 2026, as part of its preparations for the Osun State governorship election set for August 15, 2026. This announcement was made by Ariyo Rufus, Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, on behalf of Oluwatoyin Babalola, the INEC Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner.

The exercise aims to assess INEC's operational readiness and test the efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). It will simulate Election Day accreditation procedures, although no voting will occur.

Selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of Osun State will participate: Osun Central (Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun, Boripe), Osun East (Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade, Obokun), and Osun West (Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo). INEC encourages all registered voters in these areas to participate, emphasizing that only holders of valid Permanent Voter Cards will be accredited.
