Ondo Health Commission Reports 1,083 Surgeries in Q1 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission (ODCHC) recorded a total of 1,083 surgeries, including 955 surgical procedures and 128 caesarean sections, with no maternal deaths reported during insured deliveries. Dr.

Abiodun Oyeneyin, the Director General of ODCHC, presented the commission's performance report, highlighting the growing confidence of residents in the state's health insurance program, which expanded its reach to 117,008 beneficiaries, including 3,725 new enrollees. The report detailed that communicable diseases accounted for the highest number of healthcare encounters, with 10,352 cases, while non-communicable diseases recorded 6,703 cases.

The commission also intensified outreach efforts, screening 1,355 beneficiaries and identifying 497 individuals with hypertension and 57 with diabetes. The Abiyamo Maternal and Child Health Program recorded 62,170 enrollees, with 1,179 antenatal visits and 475 deliveries, including 454 single births and 13 twin births.
