FIFA Launches Training Camp for African Referees

FIFA has officially announced the commencement of a training camp for African match officials as part of the preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The camp is scheduled to begin on May 31 in Miami, United States.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring that match officials from Africa are fully prepared for the global football showcase. The training camp will gather referees, assistant referees, and video assistant referees (VAR) from across the continent.

The program will include rigorous training, performance assessments, and travel arrangements to facilitate the officials' participation. FIFA has stated that selected officials will receive special visa codes to help secure their entry into the United States without delays.

The training program is expected to encompass fitness exercises and technical workshops that incorporate modern officiating technology, ensuring that officials are ready to meet the high demands of matches during the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the competition will feature 48 teams.
