IOC Rejects Ethics Complaint Against FIFA's Infantino

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has declined to investigate FIFA President Gianni Infantino following an ethics complaint lodged by the human rights organization FairSquare. The complaint accused Infantino of breaching neutrality rules in political matters, specifically concerning U.S.

President Donald Trump. It cited Infantino's controversial decision to issue a yellow card to U.S. player Folarin Balogun during a World Cup match and the awarding of a FIFA peace prize to Trump.

On Friday, the IOC announced that it would not initiate any official investigation or disciplinary measures against Infantino, explaining that the complaint primarily pertains to the operations of an international sports federation, its relationships with governments, and adherence to competition rules—issues not addressed by the IOC’s Ethics Code.
