Portugal Shortlists Managers to Replace Martinez for 2026
Portugal is in the process of identifying a replacement for Roberto Martinez, who is expected to step down from his role as manager ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Martinez has been heavily linked with a reunion with captain Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
The Portuguese Football Federation is reportedly considering three candidates for the managerial position: Jorginho Jesus, Abel Ferreira, and Sérgio Conceição. Despite serious discussions regarding the role, José Mourinho has been ruled out as a candidate due to his ongoing negotiations for the Real Madrid job.
Portugal's campaign for the World Cup began with a 1-1 draw against DR Congo, highlighting the urgency for a new managerial direction as they prepare for the tournament.
