Portugal Football Federation Confirms Martínez's Departure

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) officially announced the departure of coach Roberto Martínez on Wednesday, following the conclusion of his contract with the national team. Martínez, 52, had previously led Portugal to a UEFA Nations League title but faced criticism after the team finished second in their World Cup group and exited in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 after a penalty defeat to France.

The FPF stated that they have already begun the search for a successor to continue promoting a winning culture within the national team. Cristiano Ronaldo's performance during the tournaments has also come under scrutiny, particularly after the team's 1-0 loss to Spain.

Chris Sutton, a BBC pundit, commented on the situation, suggesting that it would not make sense for Martínez to continue given the team's recent performances.
