Dapo Abiodun Positions for 2027 Senate Run in Ogun State

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun is preparing for a senatorial run in the 2027 elections, emphasizing his track record to secure support from stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC). His administration has focused on various economic initiatives, including infrastructure development, which has reportedly quadrupled the state's economy from 3.5 trillion naira in 2019 to an estimated 17 trillion naira by early 2026.

Abiodun's government aims to increase the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from approximately 50 billion naira in 2019 to a target of 512 billion naira by 2026. The state has also attracted 70 percent of Nigeria's foreign direct investment (FDI).

Key projects under his administration include the Ogun State International Airport, which is designed to enhance agricultural exports and create thousands of jobs. Abiodun's leadership is characterized by a commitment to bridging the gap between production and market access, positioning Ogun State as a major commercial hub in the southwest region of Nigeria.
