Iyabo Obasanjo Declares Candidacy for Ogun Governorship

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has formally declared her intention to run for the governorship of Ogun State in 2027. During a press conference at the APC national headquarters in Abuja, she called on party members and stakeholders to rally behind her candidacy to secure the APC ticket.

Obasanjo expressed confidence in her ability to win the nomination and emphasized the need for the party to unite in support of her bid. She outlined her development priorities, including addressing infrastructure challenges, particularly road congestion affecting commuters, and improving education and agricultural opportunities for youth.

Obasanjo highlighted the importance of investing in science and technology education and called for greater support for women and youth in Ogun State. She noted that no zone in the state has produced a governor since the Second Republic and believes every zone should have the opportunity to present a candidate.

Obasanjo's political experience includes serving on the Senate Commission on Health, which she believes will help mobilize grassroots support for her campaign.
