Labour Party Names Princ Kennedi Ahanotu as 2027 Candidate

On a Saturday in Abuja, the Labour Party, under the leadership of Julius Abure, announced Princ Kennedi Ahanotu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. Ahanotu, a 42-year-old party stalwart, received unanimous support during a consensus meeting, securing 2,944,000 votes with no opposition.

This decision comes amid a prolonged leadership crisis within the Labour Party, which has seen rival factions emerge. Notably, Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti expressed his support for Ahanotu, emphasizing the need for unity within the party.

Ahanotu pledged to work towards strengthening the party's structure and deepening internal democracy. His candidacy marks a significant moment for the Labour Party as it prepares for the upcoming elections, with hopes of resolving internal conflicts and presenting a united front.

The party's deputy national chairman, Ayo Olorunfemi, also participated in the announcement, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility among party members.
