Labour Party's Abure Faction Offers Free Nomination Forms

The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party announced the provision of free nomination forms to aspirants for the 2027 elections, countering earlier claims of imposing high fees. The party has set the nomination fees at 3 million naira for House of Assembly, 5 million for House of Representatives, 10 million for Senate, 25 million for governorship, and 50 million for presidential tickets.

Abure, during a press conference in Abuja, rejected allegations of financial inducements made by the opposing faction led by Nenadi Usman. He emphasized that discussions regarding power-sharing arrangements with Abia State Governor Alex Otti did not involve financial requests.

The Abure faction is currently appealing a court judgment affirming Usman's leadership and maintains that it remains the legitimate leadership of the party. The faction plans to hold its primaries on May 27 for governorship and state assembly positions, and on May 29 for national assembly positions.
