ADC Demands INEC Chairman's Resignation Over Partisanship

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified its demand for the resignation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, citing allegations of partisanship that they claim breach constitutional mandates and threaten Nigeria's multi-party democracy.

The ADC, through a letter signed by its national chairman David Mark and secretary Rauf Aregbesola, accused Amupitan of overstepping his constitutional authority and eroding public confidence in the electoral body. They assert that his recent media interviews and actions amount to serious constitutional breaches and an affront to the doctrine of separation of powers.

The ADC further alleges that INEC is attempting to compel its officials to alter testimonies related to court judgments, which they view as a dangerous overreach. They demand an immediate withdrawal of what they term "offensive correspondence" from INEC and a formal apology, warning that failure to comply will lead to legal actions to ensure accountability.
