ADC Protests INEC Leadership, Demands Resignation

On Tuesday, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) organized a protest in Abuja, dubbed #OccupyINEC, demanding the resignation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Joseph Amupitan. The ADC accused INEC of partisanship and violating constitutional duties, particularly regarding internal party disputes.

Prominent political figures, including former Senate President David Mark and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, participated in the demonstration, which gained significant public attention. The ADC expressed serious concerns over INEC's recent actions, claiming they undermine public trust in the electoral process.

The party outlined six demands, including an immediate resignation of the INEC chairman and a formal apology for perceived offensive correspondence. They warned that failure to comply would lead to legal action, emphasizing the need for INEC to avoid interference in political party affairs.

The ADC's protest reflects broader concerns about the integrity of Nigeria's electoral system ahead of the 2025 elections.
