Hayatudeen Rejects Zoning, Calls for Focus on Key Issues

Mohan Hayatudeen, a presidential aspirant for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has publicly rejected the concept of zoning in Nigerian politics. Speaking on a television program, he urged Nigerians to shift their focus from zoning debates to critical issues such as insecurity, economic decline, and job creation.

Hayatudeen highlighted the widespread hardship faced by families, citing recent incidents of abduction and killings, and noted that many Nigerians struggle to afford basic necessities like food and education. He argued that leadership should not be determined by geographic considerations but rather by the capability to address the country's fundamental problems.

Hayatudeen linked Nigeria's worsening insecurity and economic mismanagement to a significant rise in poverty, with an estimated 110 million Nigerians living below the poverty line. He emphasized that his decision to run on the ADC platform aligns with a vision to tackle the rising cost of living, unemployment, and poverty, warning that the political space in Nigeria is constrained by actions that limit citizens' ability to make free political choices.
