ADC Screens 70 Aspirants for 2027 Governorship Primaries

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) conducted a screening of 70 governorship aspirants for the 2027 primaries in Abuja, which began on Monday and is set to continue on Tuesday. The screening process was overseen by a panel led by Senator Mohan Ono, who represents Nasarawa South and chairs the Senate Committee on Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy.

He described the process as thorough and fair, expressing confidence in ADC's chances in the upcoming elections, particularly in Nasarawa State. Former Adamawa State Governor Moham Jibrilla Bindow praised the exercise for its transparency and professionalism.

Other aspirants included Great Ogboru from Delta and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour from Lagos, who emphasized the need for strict adherence to due process to avoid future legal disputes regarding candidacy. The screening included notable figures such as former Attorney General Abubakar Malami and various aspirants from states like Kebbi, Yobe, and Oyo.

The ADC aims to strengthen its electoral fortunes amid challenges faced by major political parties.
