Adekoya Withdraws Senatorial Bid for House Seat in 2027

Abdel Majid Adesegun Adekoya has decided to abandon his senatorial ambition and pursue a House of Representatives seat for the Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside federal constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. Adekoya, a former Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, picked up his nomination form from the Tanimu Turaki faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

His decision follows sustained appeals from party leaders, traditional rulers, women's groups, youth associations, and stakeholders across the constituency. Adekoya, who previously represented the area from 2015 to 2023, stated that he opted to return to the lower chamber to focus on delivering projects and direct representation.

His move was influenced by overwhelming support from constituents who highlighted his previous record of sponsoring bills and facilitating infrastructure projects. Ongoing projects during his tenure include the completion of the Vintag Orimolusi Palace and the Ijebu Igbo Stadium, among others.
