Nwachukwu Sues NDC, INEC Over Imo North Primary Poll

Hon. Isaac Nwachukwu, a senatorial aspirant for the Imo North zone in the 2027 general elections, has initiated legal action against the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Federal High Court in Owerri, Imo State.

The lawsuit, filed on a Wednesday, alleges gross irregularities during the party's primary elections held in June 2023. Nwachukwu's counsel, C.J.

Oguzi, claims that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the NDC, denied him the senatorial ticket despite his contributions of N20 million to the party's development. The suit seeks several declarations, including that Nwachukwu is the consensual candidate for the NDC in the Imo North senatorial zone and that the NDC should be restrained from fielding any other candidate.

Nwachukwu also requests that INEC be prevented from recognizing any candidacy other than his own pending the resolution of the matter.
