APC Clears 32 Aspirants Loyal to Fubara in Rivers Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted a screening exercise for aspirants seeking tickets for the Rivers State House of Assembly on a Saturday at the party's secretariat along Aba Road in Port Harcourt. The screening focused on aspirants believed to be loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, with 32 candidates reportedly cleared by the party's screening committee.

Notable aspirants included former Obio Akpor local government chairman Chijiok Ihunwo and current representative of Bonny constituency Victor Oko Jumbo. Other cleared candidates included Sokari Goodboi, Adolphu Timothy, and Tony Brigg, among others.

The event was marked by tight security, with police deployed to prevent any potential disturbances, despite claims circulating on social media about harassment of Fubara's loyalists during the screening. The political landscape in Rivers State appears to be shifting, with the APC and Fubara's camp working to strengthen their hold ahead of the upcoming primaries, especially in light of the influence of former governor Nysem Wike.
