APC Governors Reject Alliances, Support Only Party Candidates

The governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have resolved to reject all political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, committing to support only candidates presented by the party. This decision was made during a meeting on Monday night at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, chaired by Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum.

Uzodinma stated that alliances could threaten the electoral chances of APC candidates, including the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The governors emphasized their commitment to APC candidates exclusively, stating that any arrangement that could create confusion or divided loyalty would not be entertained.

The meeting also noted that some former APC members who lost party primaries have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), securing tickets for various positions, including Senator Saliu Mustapha and Isa Pantami.
