APC Unfazed by Peter Obi's Defection to NDC

Nante Yilwatda, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed that the party is unfazed by Peter Obi's recent defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, Yilwatda dismissed concerns regarding the impact of Obi's move, describing it as politically insignificant and asserting that such defections do not affect the APC.

He emphasized that the APC remains solid and is moving forward with strong public support, as evidenced by a large turnout for the purchase of nomination forms for the upcoming 2027 general elections. Yilwatda also mentioned that the APC is prepared for the elections and is considering extending the deadline for form submissions to avoid complications, in line with the timelines stipulated by the electoral act.

He noted that the party is implementing measures to ensure a smooth screening process for aspirants.
