APC Targets Abaribe's Senate Seat with Ikonne in 2027

The Asiwaju Tsunami Group, part of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced their intention to end Enyinnaya Abaribe's ambition for a sixth term in the Abia South senatorial district during a press conference in Aba on Tuesday. The group expressed confidence that Paul Ikonne would secure victory against Abaribe, who has held the position for 20 years.

They highlighted the dominance of the Obingwa section of Abia South in politics, referencing the long-standing influence of former governor Okezie Ikpeazu. The group called for fresh leadership and ideas, asserting that Ikonne is the right candidate to achieve this.

They also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the national chairman of the APC, Professor Nentaw Yilwatda, for their support in the upcoming primaries, which they believe will be crucial for the party's leadership and direction in Abia.
