Abia APC Confirms Eric Opah as 2027 Governorship Candidate

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed Chief Eric Opah as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, rejecting allegations that Chief Henri Ikechukwu Ikoh won the party's primary. This clarification follows a viral video claiming Ikoh's victory.

Uch Aguoru, the APC spokesperson, stated that the primary took place on May 21, 2026, where Opah secured 125,977 votes against Ikoh's 5,905 votes. Aguoru emphasized that Opah joined the APC in 2023 and has significantly contributed to the party's growth.

He also noted that Ikoh lost in his local government area, Ikwuano, where Opah received 3,486 votes compared to Ikoh's 2,403. Aguoru urged party members to remain calm and assured that the primary's outcome would be respected, despite external interests attempting to destabilize the party ahead of the elections.
