Abia APC Urges Respect for Primary Election Results

Stakeholders of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are calling on the party leadership to respect the outcome of the recent primary election held on May 18, 2026. Hon.

Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr was declared the winner, receiving overwhelming support from 75% of APC members in the Abia South Senatorial District. Sir Don Ubani, a prominent APC leader, expressed that the party must not yield to pressure to disregard the people's choice.

The stakeholders believe that Erondu Jnr is a strong candidate capable of defeating the current senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, in the 2027 elections. The primary election involved 65 electoral wards across six local government areas.

Ubani criticized attempts to impose candidates not aligned with the electorate's wishes, emphasizing that the party should focus on the interests of the people rather than individual ambitions. Erondu Jnr is also recognized for his philanthropic efforts, having donated motorcycles to local party chairmen as part of his campaign strategy.
