APGA to Support Tinubu, Not Contest 2027 Presidency

Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, revealed during a media chat shortly after his swearing-in for a second term that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will not present a presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. Instead, the party has decided to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom Soludo described as a friend deserving of a second term.

He noted that while opinions may vary among Nigerians, the decision reflects the broader interests of the people, particularly those in the Southeast and Anambra. Soludo highlighted that APGA has historically supported consensus candidates rather than fielding its own, referencing past instances such as the 2011 elections when the party backed President Jonathan.

He expressed confidence that the people of the Southeast would understand the rationale behind this decision once it is properly communicated, advocating for a return to coalition politics to better serve regional interests.
