Kwankwaso Urges Atiku to Withdraw from 2027 Race

Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. Kwankwaso expressed concerns regarding Atiku's age and health, suggesting that he should instead focus on his traditional responsibilities as the Wazirin of Adamawa.

This appeal was made during a visit from members of the Fulani Farmers Association at Kwankwaso's residence in Abuja. He urged supporters of Atiku to convince him to step aside from the presidential contest, stating, “Go to the Wazirin of Adamawa’s house and tell him in Fulani that he needs to focus on his traditional title.” Kwankwaso's comments come in the context of ongoing efforts to unite opposition candidates against President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming election.

Atiku has previously indicated that the 2027 election might be his final attempt at the presidency, having contested multiple times without success.
