Kwankwaso Urges Atiku to Withdraw from 2027 Race

On September 11, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), called on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and concentrate on his traditional responsibilities as Wazirin Adamawa. Kwankwaso made this statement while receiving members of the Fulani Farmers Association at his Abuja residence.

He specifically urged the visitors to communicate with Atiku in Fulfulde, emphasizing his age and health as reasons for stepping aside. Kwankwaso reassured that if the NDC wins the election, Atiku would be well taken care of, particularly since they share roots in Adamawa.

This appeal comes amid ongoing efforts to unify opposition parties to effectively challenge President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections. Atiku, who previously contested the 2023 election under the PDP, is now the presidential candidate for the ADC, while Kwankwaso is running as Peter Obi's running mate for the NDC.
