Atiku Abubakar Dismisses Age Concerns for 2027 Election

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), addressed concerns about his age in an interview with BBC Hausa, stating that he does not resemble someone nearing 80 years old as he prepares for the 2027 presidential election. He responded to an interviewer’s remark about his age, referencing President Bola Tinubu's age in a challenge to the premise of the question.

Atiku asserted that he was instrumental in forming the opposition coalition aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), rejecting claims that he is an obstacle to this coalition. He noted that despite some divisions, including the departure of key figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, there remains potential for opposition unity.

Additionally, Atiku criticized the Federal Government's management of the petrol subsidy removal, questioning the accountability of the funds saved from the policy.
