Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu on Fuel Price Policies

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar responded to President Bola Tinubu's criticism of his proposals to reduce energy costs, accusing the Tinubu administration of subjecting Nigerians to economic hardship for over three years while only now promising relief as the 2027 elections approach. Atiku, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, stated that the core issue is not a personal rivalry but the struggle of millions of Nigerians to afford basic necessities.

Shaibu's statement, titled “Tinubu, the issue is not Atiku — it is why Nigerians can no longer afford to live,” questioned why the administration is now proposing economic interventions after years of hardship. He argued that reducing energy costs would lower transportation and production expenses, ultimately benefiting consumers.

The Atiku Economic Recovery Plan aims to provide targeted support for domestic refining of Nigerian crude, ensuring that benefits reach consumers through a transparent mechanism.
