Akpabio: 2027 Campaigns Won't Disrupt Legislative Duties

Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that the upcoming 2027 election campaigns will not interfere with the legislative responsibilities of the National Assembly members. He made this declaration while addressing journalists at the Presidential wing of the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo.

Akpabio, who recently held a meeting with All Progressive Congress (APC) Critical Stakeholders in the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, where he, President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Umo Eno received unanimous endorsement for their re-election bids, asserted that electioneering and legislative duties are distinct and can coexist. He noted that lawmakers from different political parties can schedule their campaigns in the afternoons or evenings, allowing them to focus on legislative work in the mornings.

Akpabio emphasized the importance of balancing political activities with legislative duties, stating, “We were elected for four years and we are going to work for four years.” He affirmed that legislative work will continue without disruption from campaign activities.
