Christian, Muslim Youths Sign Peace Accord Ahead of 2027

On Friday, during the 2026 National Christian Youth Security Summit at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations signed a peace accord aimed at fostering religious tolerance and rejecting political violence ahead of the 2027 general elections. The summit, themed “Empowered for Leadership, Service and Nation Building,” gathered security officials, government representatives, church leaders, and youth delegates from across Nigeria.

Ademola Arowolo, the National Chairman of YOWICAN, described the peace accord as a “covenant of hope and a declaration of unity,” emphasizing the importance of human life and urging youth to resist political thuggery. Sani Sulaiman-Maigoro, the National President of NACOMYO, reinforced the need for interfaith solidarity to combat security threats and political manipulation, stating that unity among Nigerians is essential for national progress.
