Jigawa Political Parties Sign Peace Accord for 2027 Elections

On Thursday, political parties and stakeholders in Jigawa State signed a peace accord in preparation for the upcoming electioneering campaigns and electoral processes. The meeting was convened by Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, and included officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), chaired by Mr Ibrahim Idris, along with party executives and media practitioners.

CP Tijjani Murtala urged participants to embrace collective responsibility, mutual respect, and political tolerance while adhering strictly to electoral laws. He emphasized the importance of preventing electoral malpractices such as hate speech, vote-buying, and intimidation.

The peace accord signifies a commitment from political parties to engage peacefully and uphold democratic values throughout the electoral process. The police assured adequate security measures would be in place before, during, and after the elections, calling on residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
