APC Governors Reject Wike's Coalition Efforts for 2027 Elections

Tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensified as the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) formally rejected cross-party political arrangements proposed by Nyesom Wike, the national leader of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike has been actively supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election under the "Renewed Hope Agenda," while also attempting to unite various political parties, including the APC, PDP, Labour Party (LP), and Action Alliance (AA), in his home state of Rivers.

The PGF, led by Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, resolved that APC members would not engage in or endorse any external coalitions that could jeopardize Tinubu's re-election bid, citing concerns over party unity and potential vote-splitting in crucial states like Rivers, Kwara, and Imo. Wike has challenged the APC governors to clarify the distinction between supporting Tinubu and the electoral prospects of APC candidates.
