Court Adjourns Tinubu Disqualification Suit to September 28

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a suit filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is seeking to disqualify President Bola Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election. The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, includes the African Democratic Congress as a second plaintiff, with Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.

Atiku alleges that Tinubu submitted a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to INEC, claiming it bore an incorrect name, “Tinubu Bola Adekunle.” He argues that this document was not genuinely issued to Tinubu and has been used since 1999. The plaintiffs seek a court determination on whether this alleged forgery violates constitutional eligibility provisions for the presidency and an order to prevent Tinubu and the APC from participating in the upcoming election.

The case was adjourned to September 28 by Justice Inyang Ekwo, who noted the need for caution in serving the President with the originating processes.
