Delta Assembly Urges Peaceful Campaigns for 2027 Elections

The Delta State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Guwor Dennis, has issued a warning to politicians and their supporters against engaging in violence and bitterness as the 2027 elections approach. During a plenary session on Wednesday, following the 2026 annual recess, Guwor emphasized that the election season should focus on presenting viable programs and candidates that can enhance the lives of citizens, rather than resorting to personal attacks and divisive tactics.

He noted that campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections began on August 19, while those for the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections would start on September 9. Additionally, Guwor announced a significant development: the expansion of Delta State's constituencies from 29 to 38, which will provide more communities with direct representation.

He urged all political stakeholders to conduct themselves responsibly and highlighted the assembly's commitment to effective legislation and oversight. Guwor also commended the Delta State Government for organizing an Economic and Investment Summit during the recess.
