Kwara APC Elders Urge Early Candidate Selection for 2027

During a press briefing at the NUJ Press Centre in Ilorin, Kwara APC elders, represented by Chief Jame Bamisaiy Ayeni, called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to promptly initiate the candidate selection process for the 2027 governorship election. They expressed concerns over the increasing number of aspirants vying for the APC ticket, which could lead to heightened tensions and internal conflicts within the party.

The elders stressed the importance of early action from party leadership to facilitate a smooth primary process in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission's timeline. They advocated for a consensus arrangement to maintain party cohesion and reiterated their long-standing position on power rotation, demanding that the governorship seat be ceded to Kwara North in 2027, as Kwara Central has held the position for 20 years and Kwara South for eight years.

The elders highlighted the electoral support from Kwara North, which has consistently delivered strong votes for the APC in previous elections.
