Dele Momodu Conditions Support for Tinubu in 2027

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), announced during an interview on Arise TV on August 20 that he would support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if the administration remains committed to democratic principles. Momodu emphasized that his opposition to Tinubu is based on principle, not personal animosity, expressing concern that Nigeria could replace military dictatorship with a "civilian dictatorship." He stated he would support Tinubu if he governed according to the democratic ideals they fought for during Nigeria's military rule.

Despite his criticisms, Momodu holds Tinubu in high regard, acknowledging his influence on his political development. He also recognized Tinubu's political achievements in Lagos, which contributed to his national prominence.

Momodu's comments follow his recent critique of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the Osun State governorship election, which he described as a warning signal for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
