NNPP Urges Workers to Elect Leaders for Living Wages

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) called on Nigerian workers to vote for leaders who prioritize living wages during the 2027 general elections. This appeal was made by Ladipo Johnson, the party's public secretary, in a statement issued in Abuja to mark the 2026 Workers' Day celebration.

The NNPP's message comes amid increasing economic pressures, including rising inflation, high transport and energy costs, and a growing concern over the widening gap between wages and the cost of living across the country. Johnson urged workers to assert their political strength and support leaders who prioritize welfare, moving beyond mere survival to embrace political organization.

He highlighted the need for policies that implement a living wage and drastically reduce living costs while investing in social safety nets and infrastructure. The NNPP warned that while worker resilience is commendable, it should not replace the need for prosperity, as Nigerians deserve to benefit from their hard work despite challenging economic conditions.
