Ebonyi Group Advocates for Issue-Based Campaign Ahead of 2027

The Ebonyi Indigen Socio-Cultural Diaspora has urged for an issue-based campaign in preparation for the 2027 governorship election in Ebonyi State. The call was made in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, reacting to recent political activities in the state, including endorsements and rallies supporting Governor Francis Nwifuru's second term bid.

The group's president, Paschal Oluchukwu, stressed the importance of constructive discourse regarding the future leadership of the state and encouraged political leaders to engage with stakeholders. The group expressed support for the Umuekumenyi Leader Council's backing of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants for the 2027 election.

Oluchukwu highlighted that the upcoming elections should focus on discussing governance, policies, and the capability to advance the state's development. The group called for peace in political engagements, urging politicians and parties to avoid divisive rhetoric and embrace campaigns centered on solutions to state challenges, thereby promoting democratic values.
