Ebonyi NUJ Advocates for Issue-Based Campaigns for 2027

The Ebonyi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) convened a congress on Friday at the Dr. Sam Egwu Press Centre in Abakaliki, where they issued a communique calling for issue-based campaigns in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

The council, led by Comrade Samson Nwafor, urged politicians to embrace campaigns focused on policies and programs that promote peace, democracy, and agricultural development in the state. They warned against the use of inflammatory rhetoric that could exacerbate political divisions.

The congress also expressed concern over delays in the distribution of government farm inputs and appealed to Governor Francis Nwifuru to ensure timely delivery to genuine farmers to enhance food production and security. Additionally, the NUJ advised residents in flood-prone areas to adhere to safety advisories from relevant authorities to mitigate flood risks during the peak rainy season.

The council reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace and responsible journalism in Ebonyi State.
