ADC Considers Options for 2027 Elections Amid Challenges

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is evaluating three options for its next steps ahead of the 2027 general elections, as outlined in a statement issued by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi. The party is facing challenges due to a suspension of its officials and a current case in the Federal High Court, which complicates its ability to participate in the electoral process. Abdullahi noted that INEC has informed the ADC that it will no longer receive correspondence pending the court's decision. The party is considering holding a national convention to elect a new National Working Committee (NWC) and is also contemplating defying INEC's directives regarding its congress. However, there are concerns that such a move could invalidate the party's processes. Another option being discussed is a boycott of the elections, citing alleged attempts by INEC to undermine the ADC, although this idea has not gained strong support among party stakeholders. Dr. Ralph Nwosu criticized INEC's position, asserting that the electoral body should not misinterpret legal developments affecting the party.
